"Coming to Sheffield was an easy decision for me, I love being outdoors and there is so much to do here! Rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking spots are all close by and world class. Once I visited the University and saw how welcoming it was, I knew I had to come here. Having a great Molecular Biology department was a bonus.

"I have always wanted to pursue a career in healthcare with a focus on genetics, since advances in genetic technology hold so much potential for both detecting and treating many of the diseases that affect people day to day. I was attracted to this master’s course since it offered fantastic training in both the essential laboratory skills required in a molecular biology career, as well as the potential for a placement within the Sheffield Diagnostic Genetics Service (SDGS).

"The placement in the SDGS gave me brilliant experience working in an NHS department, allowing me to understand the challenges facing those in the service and practise the techniques used in a modern genetic diagnostics laboratory. This placement was invaluable in helping me secure a position within the Leeds Genetics Laboratory, the quality of experience gained is hard to beat."
