Activities

You'll have the chance to take part in practical activities related to Orthoptics to give you a real taste of what it's like to be a student at Sheffield.

Interactive activities

Applicants will take part in several interactive clinical stations, led by current Orthoptics students.

These stations will demonstrate some of the key skills orthoptist learn and you will be given the opportunity to be shown, and to experiment with, some of the orthoptics equipment that is used in orthoptic clinics to assess patient's eyes.

This will consist of four 15 minute stations centred around how the eyes work together and the levels of binocular vision. The stations will be run by current students and questions around orthoptics assessments are very welcome.

Tour of Orthoptics facilities

As part of the Open Day, you'll receive a tour of our new Orthoptics facilities, led by student ambassadors. You can view the location of our Orthoptics facilities at Mushroom Lane here: Google Maps / Apple Maps.

How to book

Please book your place on the offer holder day via the link in your invitation email.

Bringing a guest

When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at your subject activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department will be unable to accommodate any additional visitors.

However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the department activities are running.
