Nursing (Adult) offer holder days

As part of your offer holder day at Sheffield, you'll be spending some quality time getting to know the Nursing and Midwifery team in the School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery and your chosen course.

Arriving at the department

You will have booked to visit us 10am to 12.30pm or 2pm to 4.30pm on your offer holder day. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.

Your arrival location is: The Medical School, Lecture Theatre 3 (Floor F). You can view this on our interactive campus map, and there will also be lots of open day staff and ambassadors around campus to assist you.

If you arrive late for your booked session, please report to the general information stand on the Students’ Union concourse, where event staff will be able to help.

When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest. To ensure safe venue capacities, we will be unable to accommodate any additional unbooked visitors.

However, you're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while activities are running.

Activities

You'll take part in activities related to Nursing to give you a real taste of what it's like to be a student at Sheffield.

We run a range of activities on our applicant days and the below examples will give you an insight into what you could be doing on the day.

Interactive Activities

As part of the Open Day, you'll get the chance to interact with different clinical equipment used on the course, such as frailty suits which will allow you to experience joint restraint and difficulty moving, preparing and inserting NG tubes on a manikin and also measuring and recording the fluid balance of a patient. You'll also get to be involved in a scenario Health Numeracy using Safe Medicate. 

Current Student Presentation

You'll hear exactly what it's like to student nurse at the University of Sheffield from our current students. From placement, to clinical skills, to teaching, you'll learn what it's like on the journey to becoming a qualified Nurse.


Parents and supporters

Whilst applicants are going around the interactive sessions, accompanying guests will have the chance to meet with academic staff, alumni students and Clinical Partners to ask questions. Nursing resources and achievements will be showcased to view.
