Hita Unnikrishnan, a Newton International Fellow at the Urban Institute and her colleague Amrita Sen, have produced a blog post for a The Nature of Cities roundtable on urban environmental racism. The blog entitled "The when, why and how of systemic racism within and across urban social-ecological systems: stories from India" is based on experiences implementing a project in 2009 involving replacing incandescent bulbs used by residents of slums in Bangalore in order to reduce individual emission footprints.
