Description

Kinships: Thinking with Doina Petrescu is a one-day scholarly gathering on Thursday 11th June hosted by the School of Architecture and Landscape at the University of Sheffield. Bringing together collaborators, scholars, and practitioners across places and generations, the event reflects on the intellectual, pedagogical, and political contributions developed through Doina Petrescu’s research, teaching, and collaborative practice, and their continuing relevance today.

Through a series of thematic conversations, the event explores how ideas emerging from this work—around feminist spatial practice, experimental pedagogies, and the commons—have travelled, been reinterpreted, and continue to shape contemporary research and practice in architecture and beyond. At the same time, the event foregrounds how these ideas resonate with and inform current and emerging work within Sheffield’s research community, positioning the School as a place where these conversations can continue to be nurtured and evolve.

The event is organised by the School of Architecture and Landscape and includes contributions from Urban Institute members throughout the day.
