I am able to focus on making memories, having good times and having enough time to revise for exams
How did you first hear about the Experience Sheffield scholarship?
Having read the email stating that I was accepted on my course, the University had sent me a PDF containing all student information needed to get myself prepared for starting with Sheffield. There was a whole page dedicated to finances and there were three types of bursaries available with links for further information. This is where I discovered the Experience Sheffield Scholarship.
How did you find out if you would be eligible to apply for the scholarship?
On the University of Sheffield website the scholarship criteria was stated for eligible candidates. It was very simple with no additional/hidden targets that I was not expecting.
How did you find writing your application for the Experience Sheffield scholarship?
Writing my application was easy and straightforward. It had a long deadline for the application to be submitted by, therefore I did not feel any time pressure.
Be truthful and honest in your application, as you would need evidence for most of the statements you make

What would you say to a prospective student currently thinking about applying for the scholarship? Do you have any advice?
If you know you meet the criteria for the Scholarship, I will say go for it! Be truthful and honest in your application, as you would need evidence for most of the statements you make. I would emphasise how much the scholarship can make a difference in your life, especially if you are already worried about having to make ends meet or having to support yourself, as this can be stressful when starting university for the first time.
How has being awarded the Experience Sheffield scholarship made a difference to your time at Sheffield?
For myself, it wasn't all about receiving the money, it has improved my quality of life massively. Financial stresses have reduced, but it also allows me to take part in vocational activities, such as volunteering. It has improved my social life too, as I am able to see my friends more without worrying if I can afford it. I am able to focus on making memories, having good times, and having enough time to revise for exams, without having to work long hours to ensure all my bills are paid.
