Profile

Jade is a Landscape Biogeochemist within the Catchment to Coast Team in the Soils and Land Use group at UKCEH. She researches the interplay between soils and sediments, waters, and the atmosphere. She is particularly interested in investigating weathering processes and elemental fluxes using a range of field and laboratory techniques, employing isotopic geochemistry to disentangle complex problems.

Jade’s previous work has mainly focused on glacial systems, having worked largely with water, sediment and gas samples from Greenlandic rivers and fjords. She has developed isotopic tools to understand subglacial weathering, glacial nutrient and greenhouse gas export, to consider the impact of subglacially-derived elements on downstream and coastal ecosystems.

At UKCEH, Jade will oversee the Pumlumon/Plynlimon Research Catchment, which is one of the UK Enhanced Rock Weathering GGR Demonstrator sites, providing a sheep-grazed acidic upland grassland environment for basalt additions. She is responsible for Pumlumon site management and operations, in addition to data generated from the field site.
