Faculty Research Showcase offers a dynamic celebration of research across the social sciences

Last week we held the inaugural Faculty of Social Sciences Research Showcase.

The event was well attended, with colleagues from across the University joining us in the foyer of The Wave to explore the research that takes place across our schools, research institutes, research networks and more.

The event featured a dazzling array of interactive elements, demonstrating not only the diversity of research in the Faculty, but also the extraordinary creativity that goes into sharing that research. These creative approaches included guess-the-flag games, board games, very large board games, raffles, miniature trees and, of course, Plucky the recycled chicken.

Professor Kate Dommett, Faculty Director of Research, said: "Thanks to the work of colleagues all across the Faculty the inaugural Showcase was an outstanding success. Profiling research from across our seven Schools, the Showcase revealed the breadth and depth of excellent work being done by individuals, teams, and in our Faculty networks and institutes. The posters, stalls and fringe events provided a vibrant illustration of our work for colleagues within our Faculty and across the wider university."

Jo Jenner, Deputy Faculty Director of Operations - Research and Innovation, said: “The success of the faculty research showcase was thanks to the many colleagues across the Faculty that gave their time preparing posters, running stands and attending on the day to learn about the research their colleagues are doing. I would like to give thanks in particular to Helen Curtis, Louise Bright and Mollie O'Connor who did a fantastic job organising the event.”

For those of you that didn’t get a chance to join one of our research networks on the day you can join by contacting the networks.
