Facilities and resources
Explore facilities and resources at Muses Mind Machine.
Muses Mind Machine (MMM) holds weekly meetings during term time that include discussion of members’ work (lab-meetings), current literature (reading group), hosting of external speakers (seminars), and training and knowledge exchange sessions (workshops). Some of these are shared with other centres or groups - e.g. Centre for Linguistics, SPARC.
Facilities include dedicated rooms for research in music and arts psychology, studios for music production, arts, drama and music venues, and the HumLab for research in linguistics, music and cognition. The labs and studios host equipment for sound, video, and MIDI recordings, 360 cameras, measurements of physiology, EMG, an eye-tracker, motion glove, reaction time measures and accelerometers, among others.
The connections with Schools across the University provide access to other specialist facilities, including robotics, neuroscience, and social care, provided the relevant collaboration has been established.
The main resource the centre offers is the connection of people across disciplines and professions, which enables the sharing of expertise and perspectives and facilitates innovation and critical mass for impactful research. The centre has strong national, international and regional connections, enabling research visits and knowledge exchange. It employs open-research practices which gives rise to a growing resource of research tools and data sets. It facilitates applications for funding to support research, events and training.
