Last summer we were lucky to be able to support 5 local schoolchildren to join the AMRC's Manufacturing Camp. The camp gives children aged 14-18 the opportunity to work with the AMRC Training Centre's apprentices and gain an understanding of the placements that are available. They work on their CVs, and gain interview skills to help them apply for future opportunities. They also get the chance to try out different types of manufacturing activities.
On the first day, two of our EngD students met the children and gave them the goody bags we had prepared for them, with an IDC hoody, pens, pencils and notepads. The children joined the group of 15 students for the week, and got to experience what an apprenticeship with the AMRC Training Centre is like. They all had a fantastic time, and we hope to run the scheme again next year.
