1. How did you get into engineering?
Apparently, as a child, I always wanted to know why things broke, how strong things were and what could be done to make things better. - or at least that was the excuse that I gave when I snapped something...
2. Explain to us in basic terms what your research is about
Machining is a very destructive process and it can actually damage parts that you are trying to make. We are trying to understand methods of reducing this damage so that planes don't fall out of the sky!
3. If you didn't have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
Whenever I don't sleep I generally go for a bike ride.
4. What job would you be terrible at?
Filling out questionnaires - this has taken a few too many prompts to complete.

7. Where is the most interesting place you've been?
Walking up Half dome in Yosemite was pretty awe-inspiring and very tiring! Will take more water next time!

Every time I have seen The Cat Empire
9. What do you have in your pockets right now?
uCard and my phone
10. Who would you like to swap places with for a day?
It would be cool to have a swap with someone up on the space station as long as I was not swapped over right in the middle of them having to do something really important!
