White Rose University Press
White Rose University Press (WRUP) is the University of Sheffield’s in-house university press. It is a not-for-profit, open access press, publishing open access journals and books across a wide range of disciplines jointly run by the White Rose Universities of Sheffield, Leeds and York.
WRUP embodies the White Rose universities’ commitment to openly disseminating research and teaching materials, publishing high quality research outputs, and pursuing digital innovation in publishing.

Annual Reviews - Subscribe to Open (S2O)
We support Annual Review’s S2O model, which transitions subscription journals to open access. If enough institutions subscribe, the content for that year becomes freely available to everyone.
ARC Humanities Press - New Voices Awards
Our contribution to New Voices helps fund the open access publication of monographs by early-career scholars.
ArXiv - Library Membership
Our membership supports the operation and development of ArXiv, a free, open-access repository for preprints in physics, mathematics, computer science, and related fields.

Central European University Press - Opening the Future
The Opening the Future model uses library subscriptions to a publisher's backlist to fund the open access publication of new frontlist titles.
CLOCKSS
We support CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), a dark archive that ensures the long-term preservation and perpetual access to digital scholarly content, including open access materials, in case of publisher failure or other trigger events.
Cogitatio Press
Our support for Cogitatio Press helps sustain their open access publishing. They publish peer-reviewed academic journals across social sciences, arts, and humanities.

Open Book Collective (OBC)
We channel support for multiple open-access publishers and initiatives through the Open Book Collective, a not-for-profit platform that simplifies funding for scholar-led and small-to-medium OA presses. By participating in OBC, we can back a range of initiatives through a single membership.
This includes, but is not limited to, our support for:
- African Minds: Funding helps make scholarly books and journals—particularly those from and about Africa—freely available.
- Leuven University Press: Participation sustains Leuven University Press’s open-access publishing programme.
- Mattering Press: Backing this press supports its focus on interdisciplinary humanities and social sciences in open access.
- Media Studies Press: Funding contributes to the publication of critical media studies research in open access.
- OAPEN & DOAB: Support strengthens OAPEN (Open Access Publishing in European Networks) and DOAB (Directory of Open Access Books), improving the accessibility and discoverability of OA books.

Through the Jisc Open Access Community Framework, we support the Peer Community Journal, a diamond open access journal and part of a peer review and publishing platform for scientific preprints.
PeerJ Annual Institutional Membership
This membership allows our affiliated authors to publish an unlimited number of articles in PeerJ's open access journals across biology, medicine, and environmental sciences without paying individual Article Processing Charges (APCs).
Peter Lang – Greenlight
Participation in Peter Lang's Greenlight program enables the open access publication of selected academic monographs.
