Over the summer, the University of Sheffield’s Faculty of Social Sciences hosted the Sheffield Urbanism Showcase, a week of global urban dialogue that brought together 15 international partners. Funded by our Partnership Development Fund, the event welcomed researchers from our global network - including partners from the University of Cape Town, University of Ghana, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, IIT Bombay and Tongji University, as well as partners from Lebanon, Pakistan and Somalia - for a series of dynamic panel discussions and collaborative sessions.

As part of the showcase a podcast, Urban Research Labs in Times of Conflict and Post-Truth, was recorded live. The episode features a conversation between Professor Tom Goodfellow and Professor Beth Perry from Sheffield, and leading urban researchers from the Karachi Urban Lab and the Beirut Urban Lab. They discuss the challenges of conducting urban research in conflict zones, covering critical issues from housing to climate change.
