I am a PhD research student funded by the White Rose College of Arts and Humanities (WRoCAH) and the AHRC. My research is also in partnership with the History of Parliament Trust. It explores the experiences of Irish MPs in Westminster in the 19th Century focusing on MPs’ roles as parliamentarians, the social spaces they frequented, and perceptions of Irishness in Parliament and beyond. My research looks at the self-identification of political affiliation by MPs and is currently exploring the possibility of a correlation between the proximity of MPs’ addresses in London and their political alliances.
