Emily is a Research Associate at the Digital Humanities Institute (DHI), working on the Participatory Harm Auditing Workbenches and Methodologies (PHAWM) project, which seeks to support diverse stakeholders undertake audits of predictive and generative AI. She is responsible for carrying out research related to the auditing of generative AI workbenches and methodologies in Cultural Heritage settings, employing datasets provided by project partners National Library of Scotland, Museum Data Service, and the David Livingstone Birthplace.With an academic foundation in English language and Linguistics, Emily went on to complete an interdisciplinary PhD in the schools of Computing Science and Psychology at the University of Glasgow. As a student of the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Socially Intelligent Artificial Agents (SOCIAL AI CDT) her PhD researched the formation of social perceptions from voices in a Human-Agent Interaction context. She has also previously worked as a research associate on the SONICOM project, researching the creation and perception of AI-driven immersive audio technologies in AR/VR environments.
