Congratulations to Sam who has just started his fellowship funded by the Vivensa Foundation and supported by the RNID. Sam’s long-term research goal is to understand exactly how exposure to loud noise early in life can make our hearing more vulnerable as we age.


 

New PhD position!

We are excited to announce a new PhD opening within the Carlton lab in the hearing research group! This project will use primarily electrophysiology to investigate how noise influences feedback to the cochlea from the brainstem! More details can be found HERE!

LEAF Silver award - October 2025

The Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF) is a standard set by University College London to improve the sustainability and efficiency of laboratories. After a few months of hard work refining our techniques as well as adopting new processes to improve the sustainability of the ongoing work in the lab, the Hearing Research Group has now been awarded the Silver level award which reflects our commitment to sustainability.
