Session details

Date: Monday 22 January 2024

Timings: 5:30pm start, 6:40pm finish

Online platform: Zoom

This particular session will focus in on the scientific and mathematical sides of Linguistics. You will find out about what types of questions are asked in the study of theoretical and experimental linguistics, and how they link to other disciplines like mathematics, biology, psychology, computer science, engineering, and speech and language pathology. We’ll discuss what types of careers linguists have, and provide an overview of our Linguistics degrees here at Sheffield; outlining the modules you will study and the ways that you can combine it with STEM.

This session is designed for students, parents, and teachers. Participants from all A-level backgrounds are welcome, as are year 11 students, and the session doesn’t require any background in linguistics to participate!
