Practical Engineering Education Conference (PEE26) heads to Edinburgh in July 2026
Following the success of PEE21, PEE22 & PEE24, hosted at Sheffield by Multidisciplinary Engineering Education (MEE), the Practical Engineering Education Conference (PEE26) will take place at the University of Edinburgh on 2–3 July 2026.
Developed by MEE as a national forum to showcase and advance practical, hands-on engineering education, PEE has grown into a collaborative platform for educators, technicians, researchers and industry partners to exchange ideas and explore innovation in engineering teaching and learning. Its transition to Edinburgh marks the next stage in the conference’s development, as it continues to expand its reach and strengthen its role within the wider engineering education community.
Conference Themes
PEE26 will explore the following core themes:
- Problem-, Project- & Scenario-Based Learning
- Transformative Assessment & Practical Work Feedback
- Engineering Practice in Higher Education & Curriculum Transformation
- Student-Teacher Practical Engineering Interactions
- Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence in Practical Engineering Higher Education
“The move to Edinburgh marks a significant step in the evolution of the Practical Engineering Education Conference. What began as a Sheffield-led initiative is now a national platform that continues to grow in scale and impact. The PEE26 themes speak to the future of engineering education — practice-led learning, meaningful feedback and curriculum transformation — all driven by a growing community dedicated to improving how engineers are educated.”
— Dr Chalak Omar
