Electronic and Electrical Engineering offer holder days

As part of your offer holder day at Sheffield, you'll be spending some quality time getting to know the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and your chosen course.

Arriving at the department

You will have booked to visit us 10am to 12.30pm or 1.30pm to 4.00pm on your offer holder day. Please arrive in good time for the start of your booked session, as we'll need to scan the QR code from your booking to register you.

If you arrive late for your booked session, please report to the general information stand on the Students’ Union concourse, where event staff will be able to help.

Your arrival location is Lecture Theatre 9 in The Diamond You can view the locations on our interactive campus map, and there will also be lots of open day staff and ambassadors around campus to assist you.

When booking, you'll be able to reserve a place for yourself and one guest at the department activities. To ensure safe venue capacities, the department may be unable to accommodate any additional un-booked visitors.

You're welcome to bring additional guests to accompany you on the day, and we would encourage these guests to take part in our range of central exhibitions and tours while the department activities are running.

Morning Session: 17th Feb, 2nd Mar, 23rd Mar

10.00am Introductory talk from Dr Gavin Williams  
10.45am Hands on lab activity in The Diamond with academics and current students A tour of the Diamond, guided by some of our academics and current students.
11.45am Transfer to Sir Frederick Mappin Building for a short tour of some of our Research Labs  
12.30pm Optional light refreshments will be provided with the opportunity for further informal conversation & networking with staff and current students. We encourage you to join us for this session.  
Afternoon Session: 13th April only

1.30pm Introductory talk from Dr Gavin Williams.

We'll introduce you to the department and our undergraduate programmes with plenty of time to ask questions of our staff and students.

 
2.15pm Hands on lab activity in The Diamond with academics and current students  A tour of the Diamond, guided by some of our academics and current students.
3.15pm Transfer to Sir Frederick Mappin Building for a short tour of some of our Research Labs  
4.00pm Optional light refreshments will be provided with the opportunity for further informal conversation & networking with staff and current students. We encourage you to join us for this session.  

Science and Engineering Foundation Year

If you're holding an offer for one of our courses with a Foundation Year, an information stand will be available just inside the Diamond's main entrance (off Leavygreave Road) from 12.00 - 2.30pm where you can find out more and ask any questions.


Hands on Lab Activity

On the day you'll get a chance to take part in a taster session in our Electronics and Control Laboratory, where you'll take part in an activity representative of the sort of things you'll be getting up to should you choose to come and study with us.

Guest Tour

While you are taking part in activities, the guest you have brought along to support you on the day will receive a tour of the Diamond Building, the state-of-the-art facility where you'll spend most of you time here at Sheffield. They'll also get a chance to speak to current students and staff about the exciting opportunities that are available to you and where a degree from Sheffield can lead.


Research Labs Tour

By joining us on the day, you'll also have a chance to see what our researchers are working on here in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering. We'll give you a tour of some of our professional research labs, where our researchers are working on the technologies of the future!
