Carl's fellowship is funded for 3 years (September 2024-2027) and he is completing this alongside being an A&E consultant. Katie Zwerger is the study manager and recently completed an NIHR School for Social Care Research funded PhD. The fellowship will provide Carl with additional training in research methods and leadership. The study aims to assess whether differences in implementation of specialist enhanced services for care homes across England has led to variation in A&E attendances and inpatient admissions. It a 3-part mixed methods study analysing routine data to estimate regional variation in hospitalisation rates followed by in-depth case studies.
