Project description

Organisations have been persistently encouraged to engage in the global 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and its 17 SDGs. Companies can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, but are faced with the challenge of implementing them at organisational level because the SDGs were designed for national level implementation. Without their contribution, it will be very difficult to achieve the ambitions of SDGs under current modes of global governance and macro-economic systems. There has been an increase in companies’ disclosing their commitment to the SDGs, but little is known about corporate motivations and processes of engagement with the SDGs.

This project, led by Dr. Camila Sanchez with research collaboration from University of Sheffield, Birmingham University, and University of Northampton, aims to explore how and why the SDGs are implemented at the organisational level.
