The London Stock Exchange recently welcomed the South Yorkshire Trade Mission to London - a two-day event organised by The Digital Forge CIC in partnership with the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.

The mission brought together a dynamic group of entrepreneurs, investors, and tech leaders to showcase the region’s fast-growing digital and advanced manufacturing sectors. It also provided a platform to highlight the talented startup businesses that have spun out from the University of Sheffield, including the AMRC.

South Yorkshire Mayor, Oliver Coppard, opened the Stock Exchange with a keynote, underlining South Yorkshire as a thriving location for innovation and investment. This was followed by an investor showcase from four of Sheffield’s most pioneering companies: DigitalCNC, Exciting Instruments, Bow, and FourJaw. These sessions effectively positioned the region’s dynamic tech ecosystem and global ambitions, clearly signalling that South Yorkshire is fully open for business.

Dr Rob Ward, CEO of DigitalCNC, delivered a powerful speech titled ‘Building the Future of Advanced Manufacturing from South Yorkshire’, emphasising the region’s role not just in building things, but also in developing the AI-driven software needed to accelerate advanced manufacturing worldwide.

Dr Rob Ward said: "Our presence at the opening of the Stock Exchange and being part of the trade mission is a testament to the incredible journey from AMRC research to global market readiness. At DigitalCNC, we are translating complex academic insights into AI-powered software that immediately solves multi-million-pound inefficiencies for critical industries like aerospace. South Yorkshire isn't just making parts; we are building the digital tools that solve the world's manufacturing problems today and in the future."
