Building on our current research themes—children and families, theorising care, and digital care —we will support theme leaders to organize a range of in-person workshops, reading groups, and activities that highlight the outstanding research of our colleagues. We will also explore new research themes around other emerging areas of strength and interest, such as organising, labour, and employment. Look out for more details in the new year.
In 2025, CIRCLE will continue to grow our vibrant community of over 100 members from across the University, while strengthening local, national, and international connections. A series of events will encourage collaboration with external stakeholders, creating opportunities for research partnerships, impact, and engagement. A key priority will be embedding meaningful lived experience partnerships, culminating in a Showcase event later in 2025 to connect academics and external partners.
We will expand connections with other research centres across the University, including the Centre for Care, IMPACT, SCYPHeR (the collaboration with Sheffield Children’s Hospital), HELSI and SPERI. To support researchers at all career stages, including PGRs, CIRCLE will offer NIHR grant development workshops in collaboration with our NIHR School for Social Care Research.
Finally, we are excited to announce the launch of our strategic research fund in early 2025. This fund will support small projects, impact and knowledge exchange activities, and initiatives that enhance our themes and research priorities. This fund will help foster grant capture and facilitate collaboration across themes by further stimulating the CIRCLE research environment. More details will follow very soon.
