The Centre for Decent Work (CDW) at Sheffield University Management School recently co-hosted, with the Institute of Employment Rights and Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), a workshop on the theme, 'Work, Employment and Trade Union Organisation in the UK Parcel Delivery Sector: The Challenges for Workplace Regulation'.

The workshop brought together researchers, trade unionists, politicians and policy experts to reflect on the findings of the ‘Exploring Work in Last Mile Parcel Delivery’ project and the current regulatory framework with the aim of working together to define an agenda for future policy to improve working conditions in the parcel delivery sector.  The research was undertaken by Professor Kirsty Newsome, Dr Joyce Mamode and Dr Safak Tartanoglu-Bennett with Professor Sian Moore, Centre for Research on Work and Consumption (ARU).

The workshop also set the scene for a broader consideration of the ongoing analysis and debate around the Labour Government's Employment Rights Bill.  It included a keynote presentation by Lord John Hendy KC, Institute of Employment Rights, with further contributions from national and regional TUC officials.
