The Whatuni Student Choice Awards are the UK's largest annual university awards voted exclusively by students. They aim to celebrate the dedication and hard work of higher education providers in creating an exceptional environment for their students.
With over 39,000 student reviews from across the nation, Sheffield earned top honours and brought home major recognitions:
- University of the Year
- Best Students’ Union - for the seventh consecutive year!
- Best Student Life
- Sheffield was also shortlisted in the Facilities, Student Support and International categories

Sheffield in the top 20!
The 2025 Complete University Guide helps prospective students make informed decisions about their future by ranking the top 130 institutions across the UK. This year's results placed the University of Sheffield 18th in the UK and second in Yorkshire and Humber.
The rankings evaluate ten key measures: entry standards, student satisfaction, research quality, research intensity, academic services spend, student facilities spending, continuation, student-staff ratio, graduate prospects, and outcomes.
Sheffield continues its journey to the top, climbing two spots from last year's rankings.
