Description
Join Dr Jan Woudstra and Dr Xiang Ren from the School of Architecture and Landscape for a short talk, followed by a private viewing of a brand new exhibition celebrating the work and legacy of the late British architect, writer and teacher, Professor Peter Blundell Jones (1949-2016).
Peter Blundell Jones, or PBJ as he was fondly known, taught at the University of Sheffield School of Architecture from 1994 until 2016, and has been described as the pre-eminent architectural historian of his generation. A scholar who 'saw architecture essentially as a human discipline', he showed a true appreciation for the historical and social purpose of a building, and inspired thousands of his students to do the same.
The talk by Drs Woudstra and Ren will address Solutions in a Time of Crisis: What Buildings and Landscapes Can Teach Us.
In a world facing unprecedented challenges - from climate change to political instability - how can we find thoughtful and creative solutions? We look to the built environment.
Join us for a fascinating talk that moves beyond big-picture theory, and dives into real-world case studies of buildings and landscapes. Inspired by the work of Peter Blundell Jones, you'll learn how these projects offer powerful lessons on how to address complex global issues.

Refreshments will be available for you and your guest, and you'll also have the opportunity to talk with some of our current students about what it's like to be studying at Sheffield today.
