I'm investigating the potential of plant-beneficial soil microorganisms for combatting plant diseases. In the face of climate change we rapidly need to move away from chemical inputs to control disease outbreaks in crops. Exploiting the microbes in the soil, which have evolved alongside plants for millions of years, is a promising alternative to the unsustainable practices often used in agriculture.
