- Profile
-
I am the Austrian Lektorin here at the University of Sheffield. I have a Mag. rer. nat. (Master’s degree) in Biology and English for teachers (University of Graz, Austria). I joined the School of Languages and Cultures in 2019.
- Research interests
-
My interests are the significance of culture in the foreign language classroom and how this influences students’ motivation to learn a foreign language. I will use my time as Austrian Lektor at the University of Sheffield to write my MA thesis in German as a foreign language in which I will focus on “Landeskunde im Fremdsprachenunterricht”.
- Teaching interests
-
After my first year of my Master’s degree in German as a foreign language I worked at Washington and Lee University as German language assistant. There I was teaching German language classes from beginner to advanced level. Furthermore, I organized several different culture events and held a lecture about Austrian culture. In March of 2018 I held the “FLTA Panel on American Pedagogy and Classroom Culture” at the New Frontiers in Global Education conference at Washington and Lee University, Virginia. In April of 2018 I attended the 19th CTAUN Conference at United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
In Austria I have gained experience in teaching German in several different settings, from students who want to study German for studying at university, to teaching refugees in Kindergarten and High School classes.
