Profile

A Classical pianist, I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the highly selective Frost School of Music, University of Miami and was one of the handful students under the guidance and tutelage of Prof Santiago Rodriguez, an internationally acclaimed pianist hailed as "a phenomenal pianist” by The New York Times. I obtained my Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance with First-Class Honours from Mahidol University (Thailand) and won double fully funded scholarships to pursue my Master of Music in Piano Performance at the Illinois State University and Doctor of Musical Arts in Keyboard Performance at the University of Miami under which I also led piano class teaching and undertook accompanying for M.M. and D.M.A. students.
I performed in masterclasses conducted by leading artists and pedagogues including Boris Berman and Dominique Merlet and in a wide range of concerts spanning from solo, chamber, vocal, and instrumental recitals in Thailand and the USA at venues including Thailand Cultural Centre, Center for the Performing Arts at Illinois State University, Victor E. Clarke Hall, and UM Maurice Gusman Concert Hall.

Research interests

With a keen interest in both piano performance and pedagogy, I have applied for and won a research grant funded by the University of Miami which allowed hme to travel to the International Piano Archives at Maryland to study the exclusive Siloti materials and publish a doctoral essay, A Biographical Overview of Pianist-pedagogue Alexander Siloti and His Revision of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 2, a scholarly research which has been cited in numerous graduate dissertations and essays internationally over the past decade.

Professional activities and memberships

Prior to my relocation to the UK, Noppawan taught in the United States  at the Community Arts Program (CAP) Conservatory for the Arts in Miami, the Illinois State University and the University of Miami. In 2015, I founded Petit Piano Academy in Sheffield, where I offer pupils specialist piano lessons incorporating universal practices from Asia, the USA, and Europe. Acknowledging the everchanging dynamics of music education globally, I maintain international networks with colleagues including Dr Nattapol Tantikarn and Dr Lin Hengyue, the current Director of Strategic Development at Aureus Group and Head of the Aureus Conservatory in Singapore, Steinway Educational Partner (Singapore), Piano Faculty at Singapore Raffles Music College along with her Thai colleague, Dr. Nopanand Chanorathaikul, the founder of Cornerstone Music (Thailand) to actively share pedagogical and entrepreneurial insights.

I am currently teaching piano at the University of Sheffield where my student has recently won prizes from the 2023 Talents Piano Competition and 2023 Charleston International Music.
