Profile

I completed my PhD ‘Ensembles working towards performance: Emerging coordination and interaction in self-organised groups’ in 2019, supported by a WRoCAH scholarship. I am currently an Honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Music, and part of the teaching staff on the MA Music Management and MA Psychology of Music programmes. I'm a postdoctoral Research Associate on the project Mapping Music for Health and Wellbeing in Sheffield, funded by Research England. I play the oboe and the saxophone, and enjoy playing in a number of different ensembles.

Qualifications

PhD Music and Organisation studies (University of Sheffield), MSc Performance Science (Royal College of Music), BA Hons (Open), BSc Hons (University of Nottingam. LRSM (Licentiate of Royal Schools of Music), DMS (Diploma in Management Studies), DipM (Diploma in Marketing)

Research interests

An active ensemble musician and teacher, a previous career in industry involved working in multinational companies on organisational change and development. My current research interests, in organisational behavioural aspects of music ensembles, arise from combining my personal enjoyment of and interest in ensembles, and from my work with teams and performance improvement in other domains.
