Exploring the Information needs of people living with non-smoking lung cancer
People living with non-smoking lung cancer have information needs as they live and cope with their particular situation.
We have co-produced an animation in partnership with people living with non-smoking lung cancer, healthcare professionals and charities.
We thank people for sharing their experiences and knowledge and engaging with the creative process, with special thanks going to Annie and Geoff for narrating the animation.
This animation aims to share first hand experiences of being diagnosed with non-smoking lung cancer so that others going through this highly difficult experience know that they are not alone. We hope that the insights will be helpful and we also provide a link to sources of support.
If you have any comments or feedback about the animation, please email Sarah (sarah.hargreaves@sheffield.ac.uk) so that we can find out what is useful, or how to improve our work.

This research aimed to improve support for people by finding out:
- What are their individual information needs?
- What stops people getting the information they need, and what helps them?
- How best to provide information.
The research was guided by volunteers including people living with lung cancer, non-smoking lung cancer charities, and healthcare professionals.
The project used a variety of research methods including a survey and interviews of people living with non-smoking lung cancer, interviews with cancer charities and healthcare professionals, and a co-production workshop to develop resources to help people living with non-smoking lung cancer.
This project was led by Dr Sarah Hargreaves and Professor Clare Gardiner, and funded by the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
