Language acquisition and learning
A cluster for researchers interested in language acquisition, learning and cognitive development.
The language acquisition and learning research cluster includes researchers with interests in language acquisition, language learning, and domain general cognitive development.
Our members investigate the interface between grammatical and cognitive development, comparisons between child language and adult second language acquisition, naturalistic and instructed learning, as well as language acquisition in atypical populations.
Though we approach these issues from a wide variety of perspectives (formalist and functionalist, grammatical and psychological, etc), cluster members share a common interest in pursuing interdisciplinary, comparative research: that is, work that combines different theoretical and methodological approaches in addressing particular research questions, explicitly compares linguistic behaviour across different languages or both.
