Kailyn Hilycord

I am currently finishing my Master of Philosophy degree in Journalism Studies at the University of Sheffield. My thesis focuses on the news reporting of American journalist David Halberstam during his embedded coverage on the Vietnam War, and the concepts of identity, social hierarchy and othering in war reporting.

I have bachelor's degrees in English and Journalism (with a concentration in Reporting, Writing and Editing), and a certificate in Music History (specifically in Rock from the 1920s to the 2000s) from Indiana University Bloomington. I have a master's degree in Media Studies, Cultural Studies and Sociology (which is referred to as Media, Culture and Society) from the University of Leicester.

I have interests in conducting research on history from 19^th, 20^th and 21^st centuries, sociology and gothic to contemporary literature. Please contact me to talk about research, potential positions, internships, attending a conference, mentorships or other opportunities.
