Forging new links with the University of Washington

A recent visit to the University of Washington explored possible collaboration in ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)/Motor Neuron Disease (MND) and wider neuroscience research.

Professor Dame Pamela Shaw (Director of the Sheffield Institute for Translational Neuroscience (SITraN)) and Ben Short (Head of Partnerships and Global Opportunities) visited the University of Washington this month to explore collaboration in ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)/Motor Neuron Disease (MND) and wider neuroscience research.

During their visit, meetings were held with the School of Medicine, the Global Affairs office, and the College of Engineering. These discussions successfully identified several opportunities for collaboration, particularly focusing on SITraN's expertise in ALS/MND. The visit concluded with Dame Pamela delivering a Grand Rounds lecture titled "ALS/MND: A time of progress and hope for patients and their families," which was attended by staff, students, patients, and their families.
