I first heard about the University of Sheffield during an NCUK University fair that took place in INTO Manchester. A university representative was there for me to talk to and they walked me through information about the University and scholarships available for international students. I did research into the university by looking at the Complete University Guide for the statistical data about the university and Youtube videos and content posted on the university Instagram account were also very helpful and played a
crucial role in my decision making regarding the university choice.

At first, I wanted to apply to study only Economics at the University of Sheffield and then select financial modules to add to my course. But after talking to a university representative at the NCUK universities fair, I have decided to apply to Economics with finance. I chose to study at Sheffield because of the recommendations of the graduates that I know were very good and because Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in the UK. I did not want to live in a large citiy because I thought it would be hard to focus and study while there is so much happening around. But I also did not want to live in a small town, as I am a sociable person. Sheffield is a great city to live in if you seek a balance between a green and a modern city. Alongside of being located near a Peak District and being named one of the greenest cities in the UK, Sheffield also has a lot of modern buildings, entertainment and has a vibe of a big city. I found that Sheffield is a a perfect match for me and what I was looking for.

So far, I am enjoying the vibes of university life, large lecture halls, libraries and study zones. I also enjoy the variety of activities that are offered by the Students' Union and the university itself in the beginning of the year just to make freshers feel welcomed in a new environment. This scholarship has given me the opportunity to study at one of the best universities in the UK without my parents worrying too much about paying my tuition fees. And it definitely benefits my motivation to study hard and thank the university for giving me this opportunity.

My advice for someone considering Sheffield would be to tell them that if they wish to study in an ambitious, progressive, motivating and supporting environment, Sheffield is that place. I would also tell them that in Sheffield anyone can find something for themselves, including opportunities, communities and support.

In the future, I aspire to be a risk management analyst or an actuarial analyst. I aim to use all of the resources that The University of Sheffield has to offer to enhance my future career and get into big finance firms.
