Description

This is the fourth instalment of the Dreaming up a Disability Inclusive Workplace webinar series hosted by the Wellcome Anti-ableist Research Culture (WAARC) project at the University of Sheffield. It runs monthly between October 2025 and March 2026. Topics were chosen by surveying members of the National Association of Disabled Staff Networks (NADSN) and we've curated workshops and talks from disabled professionals from a variety of backgrounds and industries.

Join us a session facilitated by Gayathiri Kamalakanthan, a writer and producer that has worked with organisations like the Barbican, the Southbank Centre, CRIPtic Arts, and UK Black Pride.

Accessibility

This session will be relaxed -– or as relaxed as zoom allows. Keep your cameras off if you want, bring your favourite stim toy, grab a snack and hang out! You won't be called upon or required to participate or talk if you don't want to.

We will use auto-captions and we will clarify if captions make up any interesting new words or phrases.

BSL interpreters will be interpreting live during the event. Each session will be recorded for the internal use of participants.

Audio description will be embedded into the session.

WAARC is hosted at the University of Sheffield and it is funded by the Wellcome Trust.

How we understand being ‘human’ differs between disciplines and has changed radically over time. We are living in an age marked by rapid growth in knowledge about the human body and brain, and new technologies with the potential to change them.
