- Profile
-
Emmott has both an academic and practical interest in UK protected landscapes, having previously worked as a ranger in the Peak District National Park. Experiencing first-hand the conflicting priorities of nature conservation, cultural heritage preservation, access and recreation, and sustainable communities in national parks led Emmott to undertake an MA in Landscape Management at the University of Sheffield. Emmott now contributes to the Knowledge Exchange project "Embracing new approaches to conservation in a changing climate", working in partnership with the Peak District National Park Authority. This project aims to support the national park authority in developing their adaptation to climate change, whilst finding ways to meaningfully involve stakeholders in decisions about the future of the park. They also help to run The Merry Earth Collective, an informal network of those working in and around conservation who meet to share skills and raise their consciousness of contemporary issues in land management.
