The team integrated employment relations, supply chain management and accounting to develop the theoretical understanding of ethical global value chains. This work has led to publications and the transformation of policy and practice across countries in Europe, Africa and South America. The SCA-Emp toolkit was co-produced as part of the project. Use of the toolkit has led to increased diversity and transparency within companies and across supply chains. Examples of change include the development of new training products by ABRH, the HR professional body for Brazil and Sheffield City Council’s use of the toolkit with its suppliers which contributed toward its accreditation by the Living Wage Foundation and an award for ethical procurement from the Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply.
