Peter Chambers
This session, "Securing the First Investment," provides a practical introduction to early-stage funding for aspiring entrepreneurs, where participants will gain a foundational understanding of the investment landscape for start-ups.
Led by experienced alumni investor, Peter Chambers, the session will explore various funding avenues, from bootstrapping and friends & family to angel investors and grant funding. Participants will learn how to assess their funding needs and demystify common investment terminology, gaining practical tips for approaching investors. A live student business case study will provide a hands-on opportunity to understand and apply the concepts discussed.
Peter Chambers
Peter spent his 30 year executive career in the asset management industry culminating in Chief Investment Officer and Chief Executive roles for several global investment management companies including being the CEO and CIO for Legal & General Investment Management, the UK’s largest investment manager. During this time Peter established several new businesses including a successful investment management business in the USA and an award winning hedge fund business. He has also managed money for insurers, pension funds and sovereign wealth funds investing in all industries, in both public and private markets. Peter has chaired both Real Estate and Private Equity businesses and has extensive experience in leading people and regulated businesses with strong sustainable credentials.
In his post executive career, Peter has focussed on management consulting and developing private companies. He is a Senior Advisor to Casey Quirk, a US management consultancy business that specialises in the investment management industry. Peter is the Chair of Intoware, which is a UK based SaaS company specialising in workflow automation, is Chair of the skincare company Formulae Prescott and is an Advisor to some small start up businesses. Peter was a director of the Financial Reporting Council and was the Chair of CRAG (Company Reporting & Auditing Group), which is the investment management industry’s main grouping of institutional investors focusing on company reporting and auditing.
