Dutch Studies in short films

Dutch at Sheffield is so much more than a language course. We offer a range of projects and activities so that you can build up an impressive set of skills and experiences. And get fluent in Dutch.

Our Guest authors and Translation Projects

This is an exciting way to get an insight into the world of publishing and to discover if translation is for you. Every year we invite an author/artist and a professional literary translator. We work together with UCL students on an original translation of a Dutch text. We collaborate with the-low-countries.com to share our work with the wider world.

Our Student Symposiums

After four years of studying Dutch we deserve to celebrate our hard work. During the Student Symposium, our finalists confidently present a piece of research on their chosen topic. This requires planning, research and presentation skills and, of course, all the presentations are in Dutch. This is an overview of what they talk about.

Our Theatre Performances

Our annual theatrical production is a great way to engage with your language in a beyond-the-classroom setting. The production is a collaboration between the Nederlandse Vereniging and our in house director, Filip de Ceuster. There is something to do for everybody, from acting and singing to costumes and lights.
