Child-centred & paediatric research

Children’s oral health is especially important, as problems experienced in childhood have a demonstrable negative impact throughout life. This is a field where major health inequalities are found, with children from disadvantaged communities experiencing poorer oral health.

Sheffield has led on prioritizing the voice of the child in oral research alongside traditional methods, using these approaches to pioneer new interventions that reduce anxiety and improve clinical outcomes to benefit young people and their families.
