The team discussed issues around Bacterial and caries, handwashing and some microbial cell morphology with Years 1 and 2. The 1hr sessions with 4-classes involved building bacterial models, 'meet our microbes' microscopy and an experiment testing the potency (or otherwise) of a branded handwash.
The sessions were ably run by Dr Liz Court and PhD students Alice Seleiro, Katherine Ansbro and Ashley Gains alongside Dr Staffford.
The children were a joy to work with and a credit to their school and parents and we hope have now had their eyes open to easily the most interesting scientific discipline in the universe.
