What is Clearing?

Clearing is a way of applying for undergraduate courses that still have places available. Whether you’ve changed your mind about what you want to do next year, you haven’t been accepted by your original Firm and Insurance choices, or you simply didn’t submit an application in the main UCAS cycle, Clearing gives you the chance to find the right course for you.

How to apply

Anyone who has their grades can apply through Clearing, even if you received your results before this week and even if you didn’t originally apply through UCAS.

  • From 8am on Thursday 14 August you can browse our vacancies and entry requirements
  • You then submit your application through our website at www.sheffield.ac.uk/clearing, or by calling our helpline on +44 114 212 9900
  • Your application will be reviewed by our team and we’ll either email or call you to let you know our decision
  • If we offer you a place, you can accept it via our helpline or website
  • Once you’ve accepted your offer, you’ll need to submit a formal Clearing application via your UCAS Hub
