Igiri Onaji is a Senior manufacturing research engineer with the AMRC Wales. He leads on Digital transformation.
He joined AMRC Wales in 2022. Prior to this, he was a Postgraduate researcher for 4 years with the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield. He was also a GTA with ACSE and MEE. Before then, he practiced as an Electrical distribution engineer with Ejovakwu Engineering Services Ltd, Nigeria for over 4 years.
He obtained a BEng. degree (2009) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Nigeria, and then an MBA degree (2016) in Business Administration from the University of Chester, UK. He went further to obtain an MSc degree (2017) in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering with Industry and a PhD (2022) in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the same University (University of Sheffield, UK).
Igiri has gained a wide range of experience from working with multi-disciplined project management and engineering teams over the last 12 years. His areas of expertise and professional interest include Digital manufacturing, Digital twinning, Industry 4.0, Cyber-physical production systems (CPPS), Industrial automation, Modelling and simulation, and Project management. He continues to pursue innovations and sustainability in manufacturing.
Igiri is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), an NYSC Presidential Awardee of Nigeria and a Petroleum Development Technology Fund (PTDF) Scholar. He is a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). As a Fellow of the Higher Education (FHEA), he has continuously supported knowledge creation and sharing through teaching, training, and collaborative research.
