Imagining Social Protest - a creative writing workshop
Event details
Description
Join award-winning artist Jessica Heywood and literature professor Cathy Shrank for a drawing and creative writing workshop which explores identity, protest, and social change. In 1592, the Elizabethan author Thomas Nashe used a darkly comic parade of the seven deadly sins to satirise the failings and follies of the society in which he lived. Using Nashe’s work as a starting point and inspiration, this hands-on workshop will explore Nashe’s satirical imagery and transform it into your own protest art about what’s wrong in the world today. All materials will be provided.
Part of the Being Human festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 9–18 November 2023. For further information please see https://www.beinghumanfestival.org/2023
