As a spin-off project from Monica's PhD research process, this project focussed on documenting the data generation phase of the PhD fieldwork process and supported the development of a video that narrated participants' experiences with water. The documenting of the activities provided quality raw material for non-academic publications, exhibitions, conferences and other dissemination spaces with the aim of fostering conversations about sustainability and justice.
With support of the CEI annual fund, Monica also used the filmed material to participate on creating a video about water practices in the neighbourhood of Mathare. This will be presented to local authorities and water stakeholders for discussion as part of her devolution to the research participants. The video is a tool for social impact as it demonstrates the daily struggles of ever growing communities, who need continuous access to water for drinking, washing, cleaning and hygiene.
