The Guide, published this week (29 May 2018), ranks Sheffield’s sociology courses second only to the University of Cambridge.
We are very proud of our Sociology programmes, our staff and our students and we are delighted that all the excellent hard work by staff and students has resulted in such a high ranking. We look forward to continuing to support the sociologists of the future through our outstanding teaching and research.
Professor Kate Morris
Head of Department for Sociological Studies
Professor Craig Watkins, Interim Vice-President and Head of the University’s Faculty of Social Sciences, added: “I am delighted with such positive results for departments across the Faculty of Social Sciences in this year's rankings. These outcomes reflect our commitment to excellence in teaching and research and to the delivery of a world class education and outstanding student experience.”
This latest ranking also follows the University being named among the best institutions in the world in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018. Sheffield Students’ Union has also been named number one for the 10th consecutive year in the Times Higher Education Student Experience Survey 2018.
