Unearthing Our Joy
Friday 27 September, 4:00pm
'Unearthing our joy’ is a performance created through collaboration between Utopia Creative Hub, the Centre for Equity and Inclusion and Dr Steph Ejegi-Memeh which brings together academics, artists and community members in a celebration of Black community.
The term “community” blends the prefix “com,” which means “with,” and the root word “unity,” which means togetherness and connectedness.
We will emphasise the important role of Black unity in maintaining, protecting and repairing Black mental health and wellbeing by building on the well-established interplay between mental health and the arts and shifting towards more positive and future-facing models of research and practice.
This project builds on Dr Steph Ejegi-Memeh’s NIHR funded project “Exploring the role of Black community organisations in improving mental health and well- being in Black communities”. Read more here
