Support for disabled PGR students

Information and links on accessing support for disabled PGR students

Off

You are eligible for support through the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service (DDSS) if you have a long-term impairment or condition that impacts on your studies.

These impacts, and the barriers that people might encounter, vary significantly, but could occur in these or other areas:

  • Undertaking research
  • Planning and writing your thesis
  • Presenting your work
  • Working in a lab
  • Supervisions and other meetings

Types of support available

There’s a lot of different support available for disabled PGR students at the University of Sheffield. An individual package of support will be tailored to your needs after contact with DDSS.

Some examples of support tailored to PGR students are:

  • A Learning Support Plan to ensure all staff working with you know how to support you.
  • Face to face support to help with managing your studies or to work on literacy skills.
  • Computing equipment and software to facilitate independent study.
  • Establishing whether you are eligible for additional study-related funding support (e.g. Disabled Students' Allowances).

Information on how to access support from DDSS, and what evidence is required to access disability support, is available here:
