Barış' research mainly focuses on security and defence policies in Europe, non-Western international relations approaches, pacifist and non-violent perspectives in security and defence studies, and the European Union's environmental policies. As a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), Barış teaches on following topics: Middle East politics, governance and theories of the European Union, international climate politics, political violence, and research methods in political science.
